Part Time Crane Technician

Seeking a skilled Crane Repair Technician to inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain mobile and tower cranes, hoists, and related lifting equipment. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical troubleshooting skills and a commitment to safety, reliability, and customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair cranes, hoists, and lifting equipment
- Perform preventive maintenance and scheduled service on cranes
- Diagnose hydraulic, electrical, mechanical, and structural issues
- Read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and manufacturer manuals
- Conduct load testing and safety inspections in compliance with OSHA and ANSI standards
- Repair or replace motors, brakes, cables, gears, pumps, and control systems
- Document all work performed, parts used, and inspection results
- Respond to emergency service calls as needed
- Communicate clearly with supervisors, customers, and operators
- Maintain service trucks, tools, and work areas in a clean and safe condition
- Follow all company and site-specific safety policies
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- 2+ years of experience as a crane technician, heavy equipment mechanic, or similar role
- Strong knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems
- Ability to troubleshoot independently and make sound repair decisions
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to work at heights and lift heavy components
- Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and on-call rotations
Preferred Qualifications
- NCCCO or equivalent crane certification
- Experience with mobile cranes, tower cranes, and/or overhead cranes
- PLC or control system troubleshooting experience
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs
- Comfortable working at heights and in varying weather conditions
- Ability to climb ladders, cranes, and scaffolding
- Ability to stand, kneel, crouch, and work in confined spaces
